Spring Update

Wow, I’ve been busy! Editing has entirely consumed my past two months. However, I was able to escape that for a day to do some filming this past weekend.

Lets get up to speed, shall we?

HOWLS: Receiving mostly the shaft from the first half of festivals I’ve submitted to, I now anxiously await word from the other half. I will be dropping the new trailer online any day now. Look out for that, its a doozy.

ASTRAY: The short film I shot in March is nearly a locked edit. I’m currently working on the effects, sound design and mixing. Andrew Hill has just started assembling ideas for the music. Things are moving along nicely.

Clayoquot Wilderness Resort: I have two, all new promotional videos I’m working on. The first will be online in a couple of weeks, and it’s by far, my favourite video of the resort so far.

GERES music video: Last Saturday was a whole ton of fun shooting the debut music video for Andrew Hill’s new project, GERES. We had a beautiful day and an amazing cast and crew. This video is going to be crazy! You’ll have to wait a little bit for this one.

Amy Bailey Photography promotional video: This one was a while ago, but check it out here.

Lastly, I’m always updating the brokensculpturefilms website. I consider the site a work in progress, but take a look anyway.

Location 2: The Factory

This.factory.is.amazing.

We left the cemetery in the late afternoon and moved on to this location. The way the sun was shining through broken windows, it looked like we had spent big money to get the lighting we did.

Making It Short – Log 10

Location 1: Cemetery

We started filming in the cemetery. What seemed to be two quick scenes, turned into a couple hours, as the freezing wind and technical issues stalled us. This seems to be how most my shoots have started; very slowly. We got what we needed and moved on before we fell too far behind.

Making It Short – Log 9

The filming of ASTRAY is complete (for the most part). We shot all weekend and wrapped on Sunday, just before the clock struck 12 . The amount of work that we compressed into those two days turned out to be much more than anticipated. We persevered and got it done. There was a great collaboration from all four of us on set: Myself, Kyle Fisher, Amy Bailey and Nick Smyth. All the ideas and input while filming made this into something special. Also, a big thank you to those that helped out in anyway. There is a credit at the end of the film with your name on it!

Stay tuned for the MANY photos that were taken by Amy Bailey Photography. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with the only photo I remembered to take.
